# Job Connector Basics

# What is Job Connector?

## Summary

Job Connector helps subcontractors discover, request, and receive job opportunities directly inside BuilderPal.

It’s your entry point into finding work — whether you’re browsing open jobs in your area or responding to invitations from general contractors.

## What Is Job Connector?

Job Connector is BuilderPal’s built-in job marketplace for subcontractors.

It allows you to:
• Find jobs posted by general contractors
• Request to bid on jobs you discover
• Receive direct invitations to bid
• Manage all job communication through bid conversations

Some features are available to all teams, and others are part of BuilderPal Pro.

## How Job Connector Works

From the subcontractor side, there are **three main ways jobs appear** for you:

### 1. Public Jobs

These are jobs posted publicly by general contractors.
You can find them by searching inside Job Connector using filters like location and trade.

### 2. Direct Invitations

General contractors can invite your company to bid on specific jobs.
When this happens, the job appears directly in your Job Connector inbox and bid conversations.

### 3. Requested Jobs

These are jobs **you initiated**, not the GC.
For example, you find a job and request to bid, but the GC hasn’t accepted yet.
These still count as job requests and appear in your Job Connector activity.

## Searching for Jobs

To search for jobs, **all three fields are required**:

1. Country
2. Location
3. Trade

Once all three are selected, tap or click **Search** to view matching jobs.

## Instant Job Matching (Pro Feature)

Instant Job Matching automatically notifies you when jobs match your trade and location.

This is a BuilderPal **Pro feature**, but you don’t need Pro to manually search and browse jobs.

## Job Communication

Every job has its own **bid conversation thread**.

These threads are:
• Private between the teams involved
• Grouped inside your BuilderPal inbox
• Used for questions, documents, and updates

Access is limited by role. Conversations are visible to:
• Admins
• Team Project Managers
• Team Business Managers
• Team Finance Managers

Messages cannot be edited or deleted once sent.

## Notifications

Job Connector notifications come through:

• Your BuilderPal inbox
• Push notifications (if enabled)
• Email (if you haven’t joined yet)

If someone invites you before you have an account, you’ll receive an email with a sign-up link and invitation code.

# Filtering & Searching Jobs

## Summary

Filtering and searching jobs lets subcontractors narrow down available work in the Job Connector based on **location and trade**, so you’re only seeing jobs that are relevant to your crew.

## What This Is

The job search feature helps subcontractors find open job opportunities posted by general contractors that match:

- Your service area
- Your trade
- Your availability

It keeps results focused and avoids dumping irrelevant jobs into your feed.

## How Job Search Works

To search for jobs, you must enter **all three required fields**:

1. **Country**
2. **Location** *(manual entry)*
3. **Trade** *(single trade only)*

Once all three are selected, click **Search** to view matching jobs.

Jobs are shown based on your **selected location**, not your live GPS position.

## How Results Are Displayed

Search results appear in a list showing:

- Job title
- Company name
- Job location
- Trade badge
- Time posted

Jobs are automatically sorted by **newest first**.
There are currently **no manual sorting or filtering controls**.

## How This Fits Into Job Connector

After you find and interact with jobs, they will appear under different Job Connector views:

- **Open Bids** – Jobs you’re actively bidding on
- **Requests** – Jobs you requested to bid on or haven’t been approved for yet
- **Closed Bids** – Jobs that have been awarded or closed
- **Passed** – Jobs you intentionally passed on

## Job Search vs Instant Job Matching

Manual search lets you actively look for jobs.

BuilderPal **Instant Job Matching** automatically sends relevant jobs directly to you based on:

- Your location
- Your trade
- Your service area

This is a BuilderPal Pro feature.

# Instant Job Matching (Pro)

### Summary

Instant Job Matching automatically surfaces relevant job opportunities based on your trade and location, so you don’t have to manually search for work.

### What This Feature Does

Instant Job Matching is a **BuilderPal Pro** feature that helps subcontractors get faster access to new job opportunities.

Instead of searching manually every time, BuilderPal automatically checks for open jobs that match your:

- Selected trade
- Operating location
- Service area

When a match is found, it appears directly inside your **Job Connector** under the **Job Matches** view.

### How It Works

Instant Job Matching uses information already set in your account:

- Your trade
- Your primary location
- Your service radius

When a general contractor posts a job that fits those details, BuilderPal automatically notifies you and places it into your **Job Matches** tab.

This lets you see relevant jobs without having to manually browse everything.

### Where You’ll See Matches

Inside **Job Connector**, jobs are organized into four views:

- **Job Matches** – Jobs automatically matched to you
- **Open Bids** – Jobs you’ve been approved to bid on
- **Requests** – Jobs you requested access to, but haven’t been approved for yet
- **Passed** – Jobs you chose not to pursue

Jobs are always sorted by **newest first**.

### Pro Feature Note

Instant Job Matching is only available on **BuilderPal Pro**.

Subcontractors on the Free plan can still search for jobs manually, but won’t receive automatic matches.

### Example Use Case

You’re a plumber based in Langley, BC, Canada.

A GC posts a plumbing job in your area.
BuilderPal automatically detects the match and places it into your **Job Matches** tab — no manual searching required.

From there, you can open the job, review details, and request to bid.
